I’m Halley, and as a mother, wife, daughter, and sister, I understand how difficult it can be to keep everything on beat.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate, I offer Denver Couples Counseling and specialize in helping couples regain the harmony in their relationship. There is nothing more painful that feeling out of sync with your partner, and as an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist I help you to recognize the unique patterns in the dance of your relationship and heal them.

Couples come in to heal relationships that feel so distant they’ve turned into roommate situations. They also come in to soothe the fire of conflict and regain the sense of being truly cared about. Often, things in life that bring distance to relationships can be things that we’ve long wanted, like children or an exciting life change. And, they can be the things that everyone would struggle with – substance abuse issues, depression, tragedy. My goal as a couples therapist is to meet you exactly where you are and show you both how to understand each other more effectively, and how you can move forward toward connection by changing the steps in your dance together.

Those that have worked with me describe me as fun loving, kind, knowledgeable, and very down to Earth. I strive to learn something new each day, and to find the music in everything that I do. I help my clients move from emotional isolation and help them to build relationships where they experience, trust, connection, joy, and ease. If you need Denver Couples Counseling, let’s have a free consultation and meet each other.

My Approach

I practice Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy because working with couples is one of the most rewarding things I can imagine doing.  I offer a lot of support and empathy, but also help you develop a practical plan to get through things. We start with understanding each of you, and then weave those truths into making sense of the dance that you are both creating together, looking at the missteps and the painful places. Through gentle exploration, you come to a better understanding of each other and learn to dance together in a closer, emotionally secure way. Don’t let the term Emotionally Focused Therapy confuse you – we talk about behaviors and thoughts too! But, we recognize that the thing that makes something a big deal is the emotional meaning, and we’ll put our finger right on the heart of the matter so that you can heal your relationship effectively.

I often see couples focusing all of their energy and affection on their children, but not able to address the issues or conflict in their relationship.  I like to work with couples to find balance in creating a space for their relationship while at the same time, helping them to see that strengthening their own bond is the greatest gift they can give their children.

I offer Denver Couples Counseling and Individual Counseling to address:

  • Communication
  • Trust
  • Premarital and Marriage Preparation
  • Conflict and Closeness
  • Affair Recovery
  • Parenting
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

My Background

There was a very brief time that I considered doing something with my life other than counseling, though my dreams of being a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle had to be dashed at some point. But, pretty early on I knew that I wanted to channel my natural ability to connect with and support others into becoming a therapist.

In addition to pursuing certification as an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist, I am a Pre-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate with a Master’s of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University in Denver, CO. In my master’s program I extensively studied couples, children, and families. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University in TX.
