My Approach

If your relationship is struggling from the impact of substance use, anger, or grief issues, seeing a counselor that has specialties in all of those areas is very important. As a substance abuse specialist, I not only understand the way that substance use affects your life, but I also get the importance of helping your relationship through it as well.

Anger affects us all, but if you are wondering whether your anger issues need some attention of their own, I can help. Many people don’t know where to turn when anger strikes, because often you are left with just the aftermath of the fights and the outbursts. Sometimes people feel a constant pressure of frustration throughout the day, and know that they’d be better partners and more productive in their careers if they could get a handle on the anger.

This is what I bring to A Peaceful Life Counseling – the ability to turn to one person when you are struggling with the perfect storm of relationship problems, anger, substance use, and grief. I’d like to help free you of the things that are restricting you from having the control over your mood and peace in your relationships that you want.

I see individuals and couples out of our Lakewood office in the evenings only.

Clients see the most benefit in therapy when the counseling relationship is comfortable, safe, and nonjudgmental. I work hard to establish this trust with my clients, and will do my best to ensure that you feel comfortable in our working relationship. I collaborate with each client to help develop personal goals for their time in therapy and a plan for reaching them. I believe the amount of time we take towards achieving those goals is entirely up to you, and I am committed to helping you each step of the way.

My primary focus as a Psychotherapist in Denver is providing counseling for individuals and couples in the areas of:

Couples and Marital Concerns: Communication, Trust, Intimacy

Substance Abuse

Anxiety and Depression

Grief Recovery

Some Background

I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Denver CO with 12 years of experience working with individuals and couples in a variety of capacities. I received my Master’s of Arts in Counseling from Regis University.

I am a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Institute and am working on becoming a Certified Addiction Counselor Level II and a Certified Anger Management Specialist. Before entering private practice I worked extensively in psychiatric hospitals and community mental health agencies. This has given me a great understanding of the mental health system overall.

I decided to go into  counseling when I experienced a significant loss in my own life.  After experiencing grief and a range of other emotions, I decided that I could use my experience to help others through their individual journey. I believe I am a better psychotherapist because of this. I am originally from Northern California and after traveling and living overseas, I made my home in Lakewood, CO for the past 6 years. My wife and I are expecting our first child and have loved living in Colorado for the last 6 years with our two dogs and kitty.
